Rate is per finished hour of assigned work (can be adjusted to 15 minute increments). Audiobooks cover an average of 9500 words per hour of text. In this case, a 5000 word short story would be slightly less than 30 minutes of finished work, costing $50. This rate covers all other factors of set-up, equipment, rehearsal, editing, and quality check. Additional takes involving minor changes to the script have a reduced rate of $40 per finished hour.
